This Is It. Hear Camp Lo’s Original “Luchini” Demo. They Have New Grooves Too. (Audio)

After a very busy 2016, Camp Lo recently released some pre-Uptown Saturday Night demo recordings, On The Way Uptown. It features this demo version of “This Is It (Luchini).” Presumably recorded in 1995-1996, this is the Ski Beatz-produced material that would catch Profile Records’ attention, and make Sonny Cheeba and Geechi Suede label-mates with Run-D.M.C., DJ Quik, and Special Ed.

Also last month, Camp Lo co-founder Geechi Suede released his first solo album. 0.9 NyteLife FM is the latest concept from the New York City MC and 20-year rhyme veteran. This includes the song “O.9.” For the visual, Suede slides over to Chinatown, finds some graf’ murals, enjoys some red wine, smokes in some stairways, and gets busy with the linguistics.

The MC clearly keeps it simple. It is appropriate in a song that blends image-driven rhymes, some of Hip-Hop’s most celebrated drums, and completely original slang. Heads who appreciate the evolution of Rap music will appreciate this straightforward visual to a song that’s all about keeping it funky fresh.
