DMX & Swizz Beatz Return With A New Banger That Confirms The Dog Is BACK (Audio)

Last year, Swizz Beatz teased Rap fans. In an Instagram post from 2016, he said “I am truly ultra proud of the steps my brother has been taking to greatness ???????? Some people think it’s easy to shake unfortunate situations but it’s not! I would love for all the fans to hit up @DMX and show him love for being focused, clean, & ready to earn back his crown ???????? Long live the Dog AKA my brother AKA the Great???????? Love you for life!! RR 4 Life!! Let’s get ’em!!Album sounding nice king….. We’re just waiting on DRE & Kanye tracks to wrap up!!!!”

The post set the Internet on fire, both because of the celebratory news of Dark Man X conquering some of his inner demons, as well as the prospect of him working with Dre, Ye and his day one, Swizzy. As fans know, the new music did not materialize and, though X made some high profile appearances like his show-stopping performance at the Philadelphia installment of The Roots Picnic, he was still fighting many battles within.

Earlier this month, Swizz spoke again of new music from DMX. This time, he was even more definitive, saying to DJ Whoo Kid “He converted his self. See, the thing…you can always want something for somebody, but they have to want that for themselves. Right? Like, we can all want DMX 100,000 times. But if he’s not mentally there and spiritually there, it’s an empty space. This man’s been showing up to the studio before me, been showing up to shows before me, being on time.” Shortly thereafter, Swizz released an image on his Instagram account of a gold skull with silver teeth and the letters “DMX” emblazoned over it.

Many took the picture to be X’s new album cover. Whether or not that is the case, it was certainly a harbinger of something big to come, and tonight X and Swizz unleash “Bane Is Back.” The track possesses all the elements of a classic DMX/Swizz Beatz banger. There are epic sirens sounding off, stark chords, a hard beat and, most importantly, DMX rapping at the top of his game.

The Swizz chors says it all: “If it ain’t about the dog we ain’t feeling you. A lot of rappers been soft for a long time. ‘Bout to put the hoodie on, dog, all times.” The X man cometh.
