Lupe Fiasco & Big K.R.I.T. Reconnect For A High Powered Message (Audio)

Lupe Fiasco is less than a month away from his sixth album, Drogas Light (February 10). That 1st & 15th/Atlantic Records LP has an interesting collaboration in the form of “Tranquillo.” The song features Big K.R.I.T. as well as Rick Ross. In 2016, Lu’ and Krizzle teamed up for Dee-1’s “Against Us (Remix),” which properly kicked in the door for the New Orleans major label MC.

On the encore, Fiasco and K.R.I.T. maintain a high standard of excellence. Lu’ kicks back-to-back verses to set the track off. Within, he sets aside the temptations of easy pleasures, in search of peace and love. “Tranquillo” may sound like a controlled substance, but it is a state of mind. In his part, Ross reflects on the lessons he is teaching his son and daughter, and why he aims to improve his character. It is Big K.R.I.T. though, that may have the elite guest shot. His verse speaks about overcoming racism, avoiding the dire pitfalls that allure him constantly, and why “YOLO” can be short-term thinking.
