Chuck D Confirms Public Enemy’s 14th Album Is 1 Week Away & It’s Free.
Public Enemy is both legendary and active. Thirty years after their debut Yo! Bum Rush The Show hit record store shelves, the Long Island, New York group is still putting in studio work. P.E. front-man Chuck D has confirmed that the group’s 14th album will be arriving one week from today, on July 4. Chuck told HipHopDX that Nothing Is Quick In The Desert will be a free release from the platinum icons.
Of the title, Chuck explains, “The record business is appearing like a desert. But the music has a life if you look at it right.”
In 2015, Chuck, Flavor Flav, Professor Griff, DJ Lord, and Khari Wynn released Man Plans God Laughs on RCS Music. At the time, Chuck explained that Public Enemy’s sound and message were influenced by Kendrick Lamar and Run The Jewels. That album was produced by onetime Bomb Squad member Gary “G-Wiz” Rinaldo who had entered the fold for Apocalypse 91…The Enemy Strikes Back.
Chuck D did not state who will be handling production on Nothing Is Quick In The Desert. In the last decade, the group welcomed esteemed peers such as Davy DMX, Bumpy Knuckles, Paris, Moby, and DJ Z-Trip to albums.
Since 2015, there has been a key development for P.E. Chuck D, and DJ Lord have since co-founded side project Prophets Of Rage with Cypress Hill’s B-Real, and Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk. The Rap-Rock outfit has toured the globe over the last year.
