Kev Brown Drops Some Rugged Rooftop Philosophy With J Scienide (Video)

Since the April of 2017 release of The Actual Heat album, J Scienide has been pushing hard to make sure the masses are aware of the artistry he projects to the world. The Washington, D.C.-based MC/producer recently released the visual of his single “Ghetto,” which features his fellow Low Budget Crew member (and fellow double-threat), Kev Brown. This crew has ties to Oddisee, yU, and HOT 97’s Peter Rosenberg.

With direction by Vercedes, the imagery of this music video goes well with the lyrics that are distributed within the song. Scienide and Kev speak their urban truths from the rooftop. Where many people would go to sandy beaches to escape their realities, these two use the “gravel beach” as a backdrop to discuss their perils.

Produced by Scienide with cuts from DJ Jon Doe featuring the classic sample from 24-Carat Black’s “Misfortune’s Wealth,” the track keeps listeners aware of the disadvantages and uncertainties individuals in the ghetto face on a daily basis. During this lyrical exercise between the two MCs, Scienide spits, “Make em’ shiver/ The key word deliver/ Shai got a drinking problem/ Angled at his liver/ Ever since a boy/ He got a crazy trigger finger/ Smoked out nightmares/ The Pain of a sinner.”
