DOOM & Westside Gunn Are Releasing An Album. Here’s A Taste (Audio)

In the midst of DOOM’s weekly music series, it appears there is going to be even more product from the masked villain. While the veteran MC has his Missing Notebook roll-out underway, his latest collaboration project has been announced: with Griselda/Shady Records rapper Westside Gunn and producers Alchemist and Daringer. It will be called WestsideDOOM, per a Hype Beast report.

Gunn, a Buffalo, New York native announced the upcoming project today (September 7) online, along with a snippet of the song “Gorilla Monsoon.” He writes, “This is one of the illest projects I’ve ever heard when you think ‘art,’ this is it… the rawest, flyest, grimiest sh*t you’ve ever heard in ya life what’s [doper] than ‘Flygod’ & DOOM?”

Last month, DOOM and ALC released their first song together, “DOOMsayer,” as a part of the MC’s Adult Swim series. Westside Gunn joined Shady affiliates Alchemist and brother Conway The Machine on Sway In The Morning during August as well:

In many ways, while Gunn and his Griselda outfit represent a new brand of Gangsta Rap, he and others show clear influence from sparse, image-driven MCs such as DOOM, along with GZA, Roc Marciano, and Brownsville Ka.

Previously, DOOM has fully partnered with another upstate New York MC, Bishop Nehru on Nehruvian DOOM. He also has joint efforts with Madlib (Mavillian), Danger Mouse (DangerDOOM), and Jneiro Jarel (J.J. DOOM). His beats were licensed to projects by MCs including Masta Ace and John Robinson too.
