Saukrates & Kardinal Offishall Share Their Views On Being The Original 6 Gods (Audio)

Veteran MC/producer, Saukrates was born in Ottawa, but since 1986, he’s claimed Toronto as his home. Saukrates has run alongside some of Hip-Hop’s best-known figures from the U.S since the 1990s. He produced for Nas on God’s Son, has guested on countless Redman records, and was also signed to Def Jam, as part of Red’s Gilla House collective in 2000.

Ambrosia For Heads is proud to premiere Soxx’s first single “Jay’s Fitted” off his next album Season 2 coming out November 17 on Culvert Music. It features fellow Canadian Hip-Hop star, Kardinal Offishall, marking a welcome reunion for the two MCs whose collaborations date back decades.

Rhyming over a rangy, high-energy beat, the MCs offer an ode to a Toronto that is rarely seen, full of underworld detail, but also evoking a community made up of people from all over the world.

Soxx explains, “Staying away from the cliché of needing to write a hometown anthem, we actually were able to return to our roots of conscious art and collaborate again. This undertaking is anthemic in itself!”

In a press statement, Kardinal Offishall gives it up for his long-time music partner, “Saukrates is one of the most talented people to ever emerge out of the greater Toronto area. He is directly responsible for my success and has contributed to the success of Drake, Choclair, and so many others in the Rap world…I’m honored to contribute to my brother’s legacy once again.”

This past July, Saukrates updated his classic “Hate Runs Deep” that first came out on The Underground Tapes in 1999, re-recording the vocals alongside Kardinall Offishall, Choclair and Marvel. Check out AFH’s “Now You See Me (Version)” that is packed with surprising facts about Soxx’s decades-long career at the forefront of Canadian Hip-Hop.
