TiRon & Ayomari Get The Money, The Life & Girl Of Their Dreams In “It’s A Trip” (Video)

Since 2009, Los Angeles MCs TiRon & Ayomari have built a cult following after releasing several critically acclaimed albums as a duo and solo artists. This includes A Sucker For Pumps in 2011, and their independent label Cafeteria Line’s 2012 compilation HNGRY. The latter deserves credit for bringing City of Angels-based artists Breezy Lovejoy (n/k/a Anderson .Paak), ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, James Fauntleroy, SiR, and Tiffany Gouche much shine early in their respective careers.

TiRon & Ayomari’s The Great New Wonderful Resonates As 30-Minute Film (Video / Album Stream)

T&A is now back with a new video for their love ode titled “It’s A Trip.” It’s their first visual since their 30-minute short film “Reformat The Stress” to promote their fifth album The Great New Wonderful released in 2015.

The visual for “It’s A Trip” consists of the duo driving a food truck selling bottled water and collecting the guap stacks that are readily handed to a beautiful damsel. She basks in the sunshine on a float in a pool and comes along for the ride in the truck. During the final minute of the video, the beat changes from an interpolation of the Staples Singers’ sample Nine flipped on “Whutcha Want,” to an acoustic guitar as Tiron and Ayomari are pampered like millionaires, which echoes the swanky yet ironic backdrop in The Pharcyde’s 1995 video “Runnin.'”

The song and video add to TiRon & Ayomari’s challenging brew of absurdist humor in their videos, dexterous wordplay, intelligent record sampling with ’90s Hip-Hop references and melodic Neo-Soul motifs in their production.
