De La Makes A Brilliant Guest Appearance On A Song That’s Truly From The Soul (Audio)

London-based singer-songwriter Tom Misch has released two beat tapes and two EPs since bursting onto the music scene in 2014. Primarily he produces, plays guitar and DJs, but now he’s adding Hip-Hop to his musical arsenal, enlisting De La Soul on his latest single.

“It Runs Through Me” meshes Misch’s eloquent knack for singing and production. It also showcases his ability to mix vocals into a vibrant track effectively. Often times De La joins in with Tom on the hook or to accent his lyrics. The single verse offered alone from the trio is nothing to scoff at either, including this gem: “I wear notes like coats, blues like dues / Warm from the rhythm, soul that glues / The bounce through my bones, jazz in my spine / The hop is my home, rap is my grind.”

DJ Premier Says He & Pete Rock May Be Exclusively Producing De La Soul’s Next Album (Video)

Tom Misch’s Geography, which features “It Runs Through Me,” is due out on April 6. Preorder it here. De La Soul, on the other hand, is coming off of the release of their Grammy-nominated 2016 album and the Anonymous Nobody… They’re also gearing up for their next album, which is rumored to have some all-star production. Last December, DJ Premier told the Rap Radar Podcast that he and Pete Rock will be teaming up to lay down the instrumentals for the Native Tongues’ trio’s next LP.

Regardless, De La proves they’ve still got it on their latest effort. Listen to Tom Misch’s “It Runs Through Me,” featuring the group below.
