Jay Rock’s Third Album Is Coming In Less Than A Month

Watts, California MC Jay Rock has been quite busy in 2018. The breakout artists on Top Dawg Entertainment since the mid-2000s, Jay appeared on the chart-topping Black Panther soundtrack. Alongside Kendrick Lamar and Future, “Kings Dead” gave Rock his first Hot 100 single (#21) of his career. Moreover, the raspy-voiced spitter is a headliner on this summer’s Championship Tour, comprised of TDE’s roster.

As Heads imagined, Jay Rock is not slowing down. Today (May 21), he announced his third album, Redemption, due on June 15. With the news, Jay Rock and his label shared artwork (a photograph by TDE executive Dave Free). Last week, he released second single “Win,” a track that relates to TDE’s Championship campaign (posted below). “King’s Dead” is also reportedly included.

In late 2015, the MC released 90059. Featuring label-mates and his Black Hippy cohorts, the LP also involved Busta Rhymes and Macy Gray. Less than four months after his last album released, Jay was in a severe motorcycle accident, reportedly breaking several bones and spending days in hospital care. After a very quiet 2016 and 2017 as a result, things are ramping up with Redemption.
