Rakim Performs With A Live Band & It Sounds INCREDIBLE (Video)

Rakim’s making his most recent return to Hip-Hop in a big way. The Long Island, New York legend’s latest release was a song called “King’s Paradise” which is being used for Marvel’s Luke Cage Season 2 soundtrack. Now, the oft-praised God MC has decided to participate in NPR’s “Tiny Desk Concert” series. To make the moment even more special, Rakim performs with a live band featuring some Luke Cage collaborators.

Featuring the track’s producers Adrian Younge on the keys and Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest on the bass, alongside David Henderson and Jack Waterson, Ra’ performed his most recently-released song along with a few of his classics, including “Paid In Full” and “Know The Ledge,” which originally debuted on the film Juice’s soundtrack. As with all “Tiny Desk Concerts,” Rakim put his own spin on the songs he performed. The rhyme royal also rocks the aforementioned new song, “King’s Paradise.” These are 10 minutes of Hip-Hop greatness.
