Erick Sermon Previews His Next Album With A Verse That’s As Hard As His Beats (Video)

In addition to new EPMD sneakers, Erick Sermon has been busy promoting his eighth solo album. Now titled Vernia (after being previously called Go), the fan-funded LP promises involvement from AZ, Big K.R.I.T., Xzibit, Too Short, Styles P, and others. At the top of the year, the Long Island legend released “Come Thru,” featuring Method Man, Mr. Cheeks, and Craig Mack. Tragically, less than two months later, Craig passed away.

Just as EPMD dropped some new sneakers in Foot Lockers and online, Erick gives fans another taste of his first album since 2015’s E.S.P. (Erick Sermon’s Perception). In January, fans paid more than $60,000 in advance to make this LP a reality. In the video, a track plays in the background. However, it is when the Green-Eyed Bandit raps to the camera that things really perk up. The MC with so many quotable verses sets aside his humility and owns his O.G. status.

Erick delivers his rap from his studio hallway. He wipes one plaque when he raps “makin’ it clear” to further demonstrate some showmanship. In March, Erick spoke about Vernia at length while on The Cipher.

Vernia is coming soon. EPMD is also reportedly at work on a collaborative concept album with other classic duos. Dynamic Duos: Big Business. Last October, the pair announced that the LP is coming through JAY-Z’s Roc Nation is slated to feature Black Star, Salt n’ Pepa, Mobb Deep, M.O.P., and Capone-N-Noreaga.
