Okay, this one’s interesting. Whether by way of Sha Stimuli’s My Soul To Keep album a few years ago, “X-Factor,” or the Backroom Freestyle, Astro Kid (who also goes by just “Astro”) is making some big waves across many pockets of listeners and fans. Today he released the visual to “Don’t Test Me.” The Brooklyn MC does the old Gang Starr “Mass Appeal” ride-around-in-an-old-school motif, but for those hearing it for the first time, it’s produced by… DJ Shadow. The thumping beat is a strange but successful collaboration between the teenager from Kings County and the Bay Area producer known for crate-digging, Quannum Projects and making Hyphy tracks for Keak Da Sneak and Turf Talk. We dig it, that’s for sure. The joint is also available for free download below. Here’s hoping Shadow produces more Hip Hop again. Related: Astro Kid – The Backroom Freestyle (Video)
