Not since the Disposable Arts-era Masta Ace have I seen artist with an already-heralded career get consistently better with time. No longer signed to the major EMI Records, you cannot help but acknowledge that Tha Visualiza’s intricate and vivid imagery is just as good, if not better than “Rather Unique.” It is unclear whether “I Excel” is included on the delayed-Doe Or Die II project or one of S.O.S.A.’s many side-efforts, but the Cookin’ Soul-produced track sparkles with the kind of melodic keys that makes A’s narration really stand out. The title/theme also keeps it subliminally in Nas/AZ cannon of greatness. Related: AZ & REKS – Bridging The Gap
