I cannot say that I saw this coming. However, as Snoop Dogg links with Eddie Murphy, why not do a song with Electro-Funk contemporary artist Dam Funk? Dam has been on Stones Throw Records for a number of years, upholding that spacey, stoned style that’s more Egyptian Lover and Arabian Prince (also down with Peanut Butter Wolf’s clique) than say, Cold 187um or Warren G. Snoop, who’s worked extensively with Warren, DJ Quik, Terrace Martin and others, fits seamlessly onto the cut. Assuming this, but given that this duo has a band name in 7 Days Of Funk, we should all look out for more, and wax up the old schools for some cruisin’. I remember when Snoop and Mayer Hawthorne first linked, but hopefully Tha Doggfather can bring some audience to great things happening at the label responsible for great joints from Madlib, J Dilla, MF DOOM, Rasco, Percee P, and MED.
