Brownsville, Brooklyn. Birthplace of Mike Tyson, and home to some of the grimiest antics in the five boroughs and some of the best rapping. M.O.P. co-founder Billy Danze and Heltah Skeltah/Random Axe’s Sean Price are 1990s alumni, with that perfect mix of lyricism and nosebleed-inducing tough-guy Rap. Maffew Ragazino, Sr. is the latest incarnate from the ‘Ville. The young MC has a steady stream of tight tapes, along with a nice appearance on Action Bronson’s Dr. Lecter LP two lovely years ago.

The trifecta links up for “Land Of The Crooklyns.” These Crooklyn Dodgers honor the hood, as L.A.’s DJ Babu laces scratches and Australia’s M-Phazes provides the beat.

It’s nice to see call-backs to New York’s legacy for being a place where you had to have your guard up. As they say, “It takes all kinds.”
