Pharrell, Just Blaze & Irv Gotti Recall The Premature Advertising For Jay Z’s Black Album (Video)

Okay, so there’s been a nonstop flow of Black Album 10th anniversary content coming from the Internet. AmbrosiaForHeads even added to that maylay in remembering the LP. In what appears to be one of the final vignettes from this month’s decade-anniversary, Revolt has a nice montage of footage including 2003 studio material, as well as an assortment of interviews (Just Blaze, Pharrell, Aqua, 9th Wonder, DJ Khaled, Def Jam execs, Young Chris, etc.).

What may be most interesting here is the discussed elements of that first Black Album ad. Irv Gotti contributes to the interviews, as he was one of the producers mentioned among the 12 tracks (to be produced by 12 different producers). However, like DJ Premier and Dr. Dre, who were also mentioned, Irv missed the cut. That aspect is remembered, as well as many involved parties claiming they did not believe, at any point, that the joint was to be a true retirement.
