Freddie Gibbs & Madlib Team With Earl Sweatshirt & Domo Genesis On New Song, Get Album Release Date (Audio)
After years in the waiting, EPs whetting the appetites of distinct fanbases, Freddie Gibbs & Madlib have a release date for Pinata. No longer called Cocaine Pinata, the collaborative full-length arrives March 18th from The Loop Digger’s own imprint, Madlib Invazion.
A press release confirmed that guests include Scarface, Mac Miller, Raekwon, Ab-Soul, Danny Brown and a host of others. With the news, Gangsta Gibbs and the Likwit Crew alum are announcing a series of tour dates, with more following.
Taking a page from ScHoolboy Q, the duo also used the announcement as an opportunity to unload a song, “Robes,” linking with Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt and Domo Genesis. Three critical voices in Rap’s new wave come together with differing styles to integrate odd-ball humor, bravado, and some good ol’ street strong-armery overtop a dynamically dusty Madlib beat.
