In 2009 and 2010, Nicki Minaj took Hip-Hop by force with hardbody raps, while showing a lot of body. The Queens MC even took this approach to radio in 2012 with the 2 Chainz-assisted “Beez In The Trap,” from her Pink Friday II album.

In the time since, besides a season on “American Idol,” Head Barbie In Charge has tried to feature her singing talents, and a lot of music more in the Pop vain than her DVD mixtape era that earned her a spot on YMCMB.

Some of those roots show in “Looking Ass Niggas.” The black and white video puts Barbz’ assets on center-stage per usual, and taps into the ringtone-era catchiness that made stars out of various regional acts… but in between the addictive hook, Nicki puts down with her abilities in that same way that made Rick Ross, Kanye West, and Eminem all seek out the talents from the MC.

Given a decline in sales and coverage, think Nick’s next album will be a return to Rap form?
