It’s been over a year since CyHi The Prynce’s last mixtape, Ivy League: Kick Back. However, the role-player on 2012’s Cruel Summer is back in a major way with Black Hystori Project. While executive produced by Kanye West, Yeezus sat back on this one and let CyHi shine on his own plain. Guests include Jon Connor and King Louie over the 18 tracks, but this tape is more about concept than cosigns, with “Huey,” “Mandela,” and “Barry White” clearing chartering the ship to a large look at Black History, executed through metaphor.

After almost four years of waiting in the mainstream wings, is CyHi’s time finally upon us?
