While the Virginia native has long dominated radio with his percussion-driven jams, 2013 saw Skateboard P bring Disco back, in a number of facets with a series of artists ranging from Daft Punk to Robin Thicke to Nelly. Along the way, P worked with everybody from 2 Chainz to Justin Timberlake, with the kind of output deserving of a guy who hung his (400 gallon) hat on the Grammy Awards. While G I R L, P’s sophomore solo set was made available for an early listen this week, the team broke off “Brand New,” Pharrell’s latest JT collaboration.
