In 2013, one of the most ferocious lyrical displays was 7L & Esoteric’s joint album with Inspectah Deck, CZARFACE. With a sequel already in the works, Eso made a second album in ’13, Machete Mode, alongside another New England-based talent, Stu Bangas. Stu’s produced joints for Sean Price, Jedi Mind Tricks, and full albums with Blaq Poet. Although Stu is also known for an aggressive approach to music-making, both he and Eso slow things down for more charm on “Wonder Why.”

The video, shot on a picturesque New England beach shore, finds Eso and his son and dog, two things he loves talking about on Twitter and in Facebook. The images help sell the sacrifices that Esoteric is rapping about, in his undying dedication to Hip-Hop, and more specifically, making the kind of music that he wants, in lieu of promised profits.
