When De La Soul releases ANY new song, it’s usually a stop-the-presses moment for the Heads. However, learning that Amityville, Long Island’s finest hopped on an unheard J Dilla track to make a song praising the late Jay Dee and his mom, Ma Dukes, is especially incredible. With the radio show concept, the punched in samples, and reworked classic verses (and a D.A.I.S.Y. Age mention to boot), “Dilla Plugged In” is a benchmark De La moment.

This will appear on Smell The D.A.I.S.Y., a new project pairing Posdnous, Maseo and Dave with J Dilla’s work, coming soon.
