Vince Staples Makes A Powerful Visual About His Growing Up Through The Eyes Of A Child (Video)

Children in Hip-Hop videos is a common theme over the last 15-plus years. From the Bad Boy Records glory-years Spike Jonze visual of The Notorious B.I.G. & 112’s “Sky’s The Limit” to Danny Brown’s “Grown Up,” plenty of artists (Kanye West, Atmosphere, Nas, J. Cole) have used children to show their feelings, lost innocence, or just the cute factor.

Vince Staples just released his Shyne Coldchain, Vol. 2 tape this month. From it is the song “Nate,” which, like the video, breaks down Vince’s experience growing up with a man in the house who was doing bad at home, and in the streets.

Is there a Rap video so far in 2014 more compelling than this?
