DJ Cash Money & DJ Scratch Rock The Bells, With Some Biz Markie Hilarity (Video)
Although he made one classic Hip-Hop single, Philadelphia’s DJ Cash Money is a turntable innovator to the highest degree. Along with DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Spinbad, and DJ Code Money, Cash ushered in a Philly dominance in the scratching and mixing in the mid-late 1980s that’s still up there with the X-Ecutionerz and Invizibl Skratch Piklz. From parties, to mixtapes, to a usual warm-up spot at The Roots Picnic, Cash Money has stayed busy since parting ways with Marvelous Marv.
In a recent video shared on stellar New York Underground Hip-Hop blog GrandGood, Cash and DJ Scratch (EPMD, Flipmode Squad) did a joint routine, that simply obliterates LL Cool J’s “Rock The Bells” in the best way possible. With crispy audio and video, this is one of the best, traditional DJ routines you’ll see in the last 12 months. What’s more, Biz Markie (an amazing DJ in his own right) looks on, and then adds that comedic flavor to the showcase (remember when Biz was a regular featured actor in the last days of “In Living Color”?)
This. Is. Hip-Hop!
