It can be easy to roll your eyes at the seemingly-cliche term “viral video.” The label is thrown on anything anymore, whether it actually makes its rounds or not. However, in the past week, some phone-cam footage of a sidewalk jam session in Texas. The simple jam about the uncertainty of life and times featured singing, rapping, guitar, and some dope organic percussion.

Jimmy Kimmel picked up on the video, and invited the ensemble from the Lone Star State to his stage to perform. However, he didn’t tell them that he and his band (Kimmel on the horns) would join in, as well as Trey Songz, Juicy J, and Aloe Blacc. If ever the music industry stardom seems to pull attention away from the organic approach to music-making, this little latenight TV vignette pulls things back into perspective:
