A Day Later, Angie Martinez Announces Power 105 Is Her New Home

The good news: Angie Martinez is staying on radio. The bad news: For almost 24 hours, Heads (New York tri-state ones, especially) were duped into believing that Ang’s HOT 97 exit was her farewell to radio.

Au contraire.

Today (June 19), it was announced that the Bronx native is headed to HOT 97’s longtime rival, Power 105. The station has been home to personalities such as DJ Clue, Charlamagne The God, Angela Yee, and others. The station has made no secret about its goal to dethrone the longtime Hip-Hop and R&B powerhouse within New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

After 15 years in the afternoon spot on HOT 97, MTV reported the move to a Clear Channel station following an Emmis tenure, also noting that Martinez will retain the 2-6pm EST slot, with syndication—including the Miami, Florida (103.5) market. Following yesterday’s emotional statement, Angie has yet to comment.
