Over the last 48 hours, Prince concluded the week celebrating 30 years since the film and soundtrack of Purple Rain. While many Heads could speculate that any benchmark anniversary would be business as usual for an Artist such as Prince, they also know that the Twin Cities icon is big on surprises.

A spokeswoman for Prince released a press statement that in fact the musical legend had an unusual weekend. Apollonia Kotero, Prince’s romantic costar in Purple Rain, and the object of affection for many of the soundtrack’s ballads, is also deserving of anniversary fanfare. The former lead singer of Apollonia 6 made her first ever visit to Prince’s Paisley Park compound in Chanhassen, Minnesota. There, Prince and his new band (3rdEyeGirl) put on a special concert for Ap’, who is believed to be a former real-life lover of the singer.

While only nine minutes of audio released, this is one of the more fun things to imagine, and only adds to the complexities and storyline surrounding Purple Rain.
