Following the unveiling of “Speak My Piece” last week (June 30), Common’s Nobody’s Smiling campaign continues. Teaming with longtime collaborator and onetime G.O.O.D. Music brother (and now Def Jam brother), Big Sean, on “Diamonds,” Common’s perceived agenda of reaching a new, younger generation with his latest album feels successful, when the ’90s alum pairs his wordplay with one of the most heralded wordsmiths of the 2010s.
