While plenty of Rap superstars shun interviews and duck possibly awkward media spots, Kendrick Lamar—although reclusive, welcomes the attention. Hours after Taylor Swift celebrated her milestone first-week sales by vibing out to some good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar, the Compton, California superstar was probed for a reaction while appearing at Dallas, Texas’ radio show “Dede In The Morning.”

There, the producer opted to throw down Taylor’s “Shake It Off” instrumental, and look to the platinum TDE star to impress his thoughts upon the beat. With a laugh, King Kendrick does just that, taking a series (some rather over-reaching) of words and ideas to work into this jovial freestyle. It’s not quite like the “Big Boy’s Neighborhood” spot, but it’s part of an unwinding story…

Even if goofier moments like these, is Mr. Lamar setting a new standard within his class? Do you think any of Taylor’s 1.3 million first-week album-buyers got their first dose of Black Hippy’s breakout star?
