This year, West Coast MC vet Ras Kass linked with Detroit, Michigan’s Apollo Brown to make a celebrated, highly-cohesive LP in Blasphemy. Keeping things focused on Motor City, Ras circles up around a barrel-fire, Doo Wop-style, to unleash a monstrous cypher.

Apollo’s beat seems to pay careful homage to Diamond D’s “Soul On Ice (Remix)” track for Ras, while Mello Music Group label-mate Red Pill (who’s in Ugly Heroes with Brown), along with Royce Da 5’9″‘s homie MarvWon, Miz Korona, and Noveliss. Anything but high-profile, these bad boys from the D mean business when they get into the booth, or circle the barrel.
