Early in her solo career, Jean Grae did not make many of videos. The format, which has opened drastically thanks to technology, fits the New York City MC veteran very well, given her charisma, sense of humor, and animation. From the recently-released, non-Rap #5 EP, Jean dropped the visuals for “underneathu.”

Featuring The Everybody’s Pregnant band (Quelle Chris, Tanya Morgan’s Donwill, Leticia J, Sonnymoon’s Ricky Diamonds), this captivating and quite stylized video appears inspired by the cable access late-night band performances of yesteryear, ’70s-’80s entertainment wardrobe, and just-maybe the ‘All About The Benjamins (Rock Remix)’ video. Maybe not too.
