Beanie Sigel Home From The Hospital, After Near-Fatal Shooting
Veteran Philadelphia, Pennsylvania MC Beanie Sigel was reportedly shot this morning (December 5), and is seriously injured. NBC 10 Philadelphia has reported that the State Property co-founder and onetime Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam Records star was struck in the stomach by gunfire in at a shore-house in Pleasantville, New Jersey. Reports add that the rapper was immediately hospitalized, and is believed to be in surgery.
Forty years of age, Beans was released from prison this Summer, following more than a year behind bars for tax evasion. Last signed to the legendary Ruffhouse Records imprint, Beanie released 2012’s This Time, featuring Game, Akon, and his State Prop band-mates.
On May 25, 2006, Sigel (born Dwight Grant) survived multiple gunshots during an attempted robbery in his hometown. The South Philadelphia star drove himself to the hospital, where he later recovered.
Throughout his 15-plus-year career, Beanie Sigel has worked extensively with Jay Z, Scarface, and Kanye West.

UPDATE: It has now been confirmed (via NJ.com) by Pleasantville Police Chief Jose Ruiz that Beanie Sigel was indeed shot this morning (December 5). The official stated that the rapper born Dwight Grant is in “serious condition” at a nearby Atlantic City hospital. At 1pm Friday, the rapper was placed into critical condition.
An additional report by Philly.com claims that Sigel was currently under halfway house restrictions, through tomorrow, December 6.
Reports indicate that Sigel was with another person, believed to be a friend or relative. Although injured, they allegedly declined treatment.
A third party was injured, and apprehended by police reportedly following a chase. That party, believed to be the shooter, remains in custody.
UPDATE #2: Following Friday’s (December 5) reports of Beanie Sigel’s shooting, the rapper is reported to still be on a breathing ventilator. Philadelphia’s FOX 29 reported this update.
UPDATE #3: After nearly a month in the hospital, according to an Instagram post by friend and State Property co-member Neef Buck, Beanie Sigel is apparently well enough to have been discharged. Here’s to a continued successful recovery for Beans.
