Action Bronson Talks Visual Cookbook & Menu, How His Mom Laced Alchemist (Video)

Just one day old, Action Bronson’s major label full-length debut Mr. Wonderful appears to be met with early praise. Speaking on the HOT 97 Morning Show on release day (March 23), Action Bronson, joined by friend/collaborator Alchemist expounded on the VICE/Atlantic Records album’s culinary component. Bronson revealed that three highly-touted kitchen masters: “Iron Chef” Chef Mario Batali, Chef Michael White, and “Top Chef” winner Chef Michael Voltaggio all have dishes associated with Bam-Bam’s third full-length retail LP. “Three chefs making their top quality, finest foods that I’ve inspired with my music, and my mouth. Pause.”

The chef in his own right also revealed his personal favorite edible component to Mr. Wonderful, “I’ve tasted each dish. I’ma tell you right now: my favorite thing that was made was octopus shawarma. It’s very interesting.”

Just an eight-minute video, things get especially unique and funny when host Peter Rosenberg dials Bronson’s mother, Gloria. As the pleasantries come, the Queens, New York MC reveals something surprising:”By the way my mother threw [Alchemist] some weed the other day.” Alchemist, who produced three tracks on Mr. Wonderful, listens with a chuckle as Gloria adds, “Listen, he was really desperate and I had this big load [of marijuana] in my back pocket [which] I took from my son’s jar.”

A character in his own right, clearly based on videos alone, “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” as Ms. Bronson admits during this wacky interview.

How do you feel about Mr. Wonderful?
