G-Unit With The Roots? Why Hasn’t This Happened Before? (Video)
For the last 15 years—and pretty much always—G-Unit and The Roots have been across the room from each other in Hip-Hop. While 50 Cent and Questlove are two of the more outspoken voices in the genre, the Philadelphia Grammy Award-winning band and the Queens, New York multi-platinum collective are really different. One is about music and (game) theory, the other is about hustle and muscle.
However, in 2015, anything is possible. The Roots take the single back-beat from “I’m Grown” and tease it out with live percussion and lots of flavor. In this light, the braggadocious record gets new consideration, Fif, Young Buck, Kidd Kidd, Tony Yayo, and Lloyd Banks freak the funk on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.”
This is from this month’s The Beast Is G-Unit EP.
