Snoop Dogg & Uncle Charlie Wilson Revive The Funk With Retro Pharrell (Video)

Snoop Dogg & Pharrell have BUSH planned for May 12. First single “Peaches N Cream” shows that this is a major progression from Tha Doggfathers 2000s-era comeback with Skateboard P. However, Snoop uses a driving bassline and a song rooted in raw attraction to take dead aim on the dance-floor.

The laid back raps of signature Snoop suit Pharrell’s retro-Funk beat nicely. However, unlike some of his recent Disco-tinged work, this is a bit more contemporary. Charlie Wilson, who made some of the early-mid 1980s most infectious dancefloor hits with The Gap Band helps give the song just the right energy, touch, and flare.

The video—an ode to the female form, with plenty of nostalgic styling in its own right, is colorful and grabbing.

Snoop’s been working with Charlie for nearly 20 years. Fanatical Heads will know that back in 2008, Snoop, Uncle Charlie, Pharrell, and Nelly made a record called “Feet Don’t Fail Me Now” (re-purposed on this track). Mysteriously, the track was omitted from Ego Trippin’, released seven years ago this month.

As “Snoop Lion” seemed to go out a bit more like a lamb, will BUSH have some everlasting burn?
