Camp Lo Re-Team With Luchini Producer Ski Beatz on Black Jesus (Audio)
Camp Lo is in tact with their original mentor/producer Ski Beatz. However, the upcoming Ragtime Hightimes (May 19) is not a regurgitation of that Uptown Saturday Night sound. Instead, “Black Jesus” is just the latest example of Sonny Cheeba and Geechie Suede’s ability to flex new styles. The 20-plus-year pair takes a syncopated, breathless approach in complementing each other.
Instead of the polished, retro sound Ski often feeds his star pupils, the Original Flavor alum provides the kind of spacey, sample-driven sound heard on the first two Pilot Talk volumes by Curren$y.
Within the slang editorials (something The Lo always seem to give), Heads can hear how “Black Jesus” and evidence relates into the tandem’s musings.
