Capone-N-Noreaga Reunite With Tragedy Khadafi, Penalty Records For 5th Album

In 2010, Capone-N-Noreaga were out to recapture the magic of their 1997 debut, The War Report. ’10’s The War Report 2: Report The War boasted Raekwon’s executive production (and Ice H20 label backing), along with beats by Alchemist, and appearances by Busta Rhymes.

However, five years later, it seems that CNN are going back even more than they have before. The Queens, New York duo’s fifth album, Lessons, has been announced. Coming on June 16 (one day away from T.W.R.‘s 18th anniversary), Capone-N-Noreaga have now reunited with Penalty, the (relaunched) label responsible for their heralded debut. Moreover, Capone and N.O.R.E. will use this opportunity to also reconnect with estranged mentor, Tragedy Khadafi. Khadafi (a/k/a The Intelligent Hoodlum) has been absent from CNN works since the debut, despite a hand in nine songs on the group’s breakthrough (notably more appearances than Capone). Due to incarceration and a longstanding (but squashed) conflict with N.O.R.E., Tragedy was absent from the group work since. This go’ round, it’s a similar billing, as the Black Market Militia member finds himself on nine cuts yet again.

Beyond Trag’, Lessons boasts involvement from Rae’, The L.O.X., and Royal Flush. Production contributions come from Large Professor, Ayatollah, and Statik Selektah, among others.

On paper, is this the proper follow-up Capone-N-Noreaga have been trying for since ’97?
