Skyzoo & Westside Gunn Have Luxury & Lyrics To Go (Video)

Just a month removed from his headlining performance at the 11th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival, Barrel Brother Skyzoo is bringing Brooklyn and New York City back to life yet again with his latest video, “Luxury.”

Stark black and white visuals boast simple, yet flashy imagery of Skyzoo and the gutturally voiced Westside Gunn counting cash in fly designer wear, whipping through the streets of the Big Apple in a drop top Beamer, and bragging about the come up in quintessential East Coast fashion. The drive-slow, boom-bap production reminiscent of the 1990s marks Skyzoo’s very first co-production credit alongside the mentorship of !llmind and sonically captures the essence and ambiance of the city that the MC was raised in.

“The idea behind the record was to put together something that really felt like the city. Something that really felt like the NY that I know and grew up in. From the content to the beat, it feels like expensive cars driven by guys from down the block who figured out a way to get whatever they want and celebrate those realizations. That’s how the city looked and felt to me growing up, and I wanted to build something like that for this generation that still tied into the album’s overall theme of innocent ignorance and misguided desires.”

Be sure to cop this cut and more off of Skyzoo’s recently released album, Music For My Friends, featuring Black Thought, Saba, Jadakiss, and more.
