Tyler, the Creator’s Odd Future menagerie has given Heads a lot of quality music to knock, including his own discography and those of Earl Sweatshirt, Frank Ocean, Domo Genesis, and more. OFWGKTA producers Syd Tha Kyd (also the gang’s DJ) and Matt Martians ventured into their own artistic detour, forming The Internet in 2011 and enlisting the help of musicians Jameel Bruner, Patrick Paige, and Christopher Smith. Since its inception, the band has released 2 studio albums, Purple Naked Ladies and Feel Good. With the impending release of their third, Ego Death, they have released a video for “Girl,” a Kaytranada-produced single with hauntingly hypnotic qualities which speak to The Internet’s status as a bona fide Soul outfit.

In addition to the rare sound of a woman singing a love song to another woman, the song’s hypnosis is matched only by the accompanying visuals. The concept is simple enough – Syd is surrounded by the galaxies, where she encounters the subject of her lyrics – but at the end of the video, we realize she is stuck here, on Earth, left to pine for Her from a distance.
