It has been a wondrous five years for Big K.R.I.T. From Kritwuzhere to the Top 10 of the charts, the Meridian, Mississippi MC/producer is proof that hard work and persistence can make dreams tangible. Anyone familiar with the music and passion of Justin Scott knows that the journey has been hard, it’s been cruel at times, and it is still ongoing.

Complex’s “Breaking Through” series shows it. Cameras go down to Meridian to interview the people key to Krizzle’s life and times. Heads can hear about the Big Gulp’s and hot dogs that allowed K.R.I.T. to keep mixtapes pressed up and gas in his tank. Viewers can learn of the man who handed Big K.R.I.T. his studio equipment, which was set up makeshift-style, in the MC’s grandmother’s house. This vignette explores Scott’s baseball gifts, and his ties to Big Sant, DJ Wally Sparks, and Cinematic Music Group. If you catch inspiration from Big K.R.I.T.’s path, this will only enhance that feeling.
