A+E Network is reportedly in pre-production to remake the 1976 Alex Haley novel and subsequent 1977 television mini-series slavery portrait based on the life of Kunta Kinte. Laurence Fishburne is among the four-night series’ stars. The series, which features involvement from some of the same parties involved 38 years ago, will include four separate directors. Coach Carter‘s Thomas Carter and Patriot Games‘ Phillip Noyce are the two confirmed.

Previously, Questlove worked in television on comedic programs, “Chappelle’s Show” and “Inside Amy Shumer.”

Additionally, OkayPlayer is reporting that the entire Roots brand is slated to provide a soundtrack to Broadway play, “Hamilton.” The Lin Manual Miranda-directed play opens August 6 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
