Here’s a 50-Song Playlist to Get the Weekend Started (Audio)

2015 has been an exciting year in music. Emerging voices have transmitted powerful messages against times of change. Veterans have stepped in to further solidify legendary legacies with Hip-Hop culture. Whether for thought-provoking purposes, or much-needed escape, the music has been loud, proud, and colorful.

Ambrosia For Heads is proud to announce our Spotify playlist. This regularly-updated playlist will include the songs that are driving the discussion and engagement on the site, as well as meaningful music on the periphery. It does not have to be new. It does not have to be affiliated with what is posted on AFH. But it simply must be ambrosia.

For the inaugural playlist, some of Summer 2015’s hottest songs are included. Whether Puff Daddy and Pharrell’s hypnotic return to the late ’90s party-play “Finna Get Loose,” to Statik Selektah, Joey Bada$$ and Big K.R.I.T.’s breezy “In The Wind,” it’s been a scorcher as of late. Timeless records such as Tupac and Dr. Dre’s “California Love,” TLC’s “Waterfalls,” and Scarface’s “My Block” serve as mortar around the newness. One can hear the DJ Quik and E-40 influence on artists ranging from Big Sean to Chuck Inglish. From new and subversive Public Enemy and Kendrick Lamar to mainstream Rae Sremmurd and Drake, it’s all real—and it’s all relevant. Like a great DJ set or an interesting party mix, we hope this format warrants familiarity, new discovery, and an expanded circle of what we all deem as dope.
