J. Cole Joins Janet Jackson With A Shining Verse For Her No Sleeep Remix (Audio)

In the seven years since Janet Jackson had released new music, J. Cole had transcended from a hopeful MC/producer in North Carolina to one of the genre’s biggest stars overall. Part of what delivered Jermaine Cole to the mainstream was his knack for working with singers, showcasing versatility on nearly any kind of track.

From Miguel to TLC to Trey Songz, the Roc Nation/Sony sensation, has cultivated an audience on songs that fuse the genres. Meanwhile, Cole’s rapping abilities are never considered Pop or smooth. Instead, he’s a “Fire Squad” sharpshooter on the mic. Appearing on the remix to “No Sleeep,” Cole teams with Miss Jackson, and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. Letting the song resonate as usual, Cole enters late, to use imagery surrounding make a house a home, cooking dinner, and a relationship that’s getting a much anticipated encore. J. Cole’s ability to capture intimacy nuances is certainly at play in a guest verse that only adds to Janet’s more than exciting return to form:
