Cee Lo Celebrates Music’s Healing Powers on a Song Using the “Taxi” Theme (Audio)

On November 13, Cee Lo Green will be releasing a new studio album, reportedly titled Heart Blanche. The Goodie Mob and Gnarls Barkley member will be continuing his solo career after a couple of years spent outside of the limelight, and fans will surely be thrilled to hear new music from him, particularly since it will be the first album since his recent legal troubles. His 2010 LP, The Lady Killer, performed extraordinarily well, particularly in the U.K. (where it reached double-platinum status) but also stateside, with the lead single “Fuck You” dominating the airwaves and spending 48 weeks on the Hot 100 chart.

The anticipation for the forthcoming album (which will be his fourth solo effort) has been amplified with the release of two singles thus far, beginning with “Robin Williams,” which was accompanied by one of the more imaginative and interactive music videos in recent memory. Now he’s back with “Sign of the Times,” a soulfully pleading cut, anchored by a sample of the theme song from the TV classic Taxi, that asks listeners to reflect on the world and its current situations and music’s role in illuminating solutions to make the world a better place. Listen to the song here, and download it on iTunes.
