The Making of Sean Price’s Tribute Mural Was Captured On Film (Video)

Over the weekend, Hip-Hop lost one of its true giants with the death of rapper Sean Price. While loved by millions around the world, his native Brooklyn was a fitting choice for a new mural painted by the beloved artist MeresOne. Located at the intersection of Bergen Street and Kingston Avenue in the Crown Heights neighborhood, the mural is a magnificently executed portrait of the Heltah Skeltah and Boot Camp Clik member whose image was spray painted by the artist freestyle, with no sketching to work from. As the CEO of the now bygone 5 Pointz graffiti museum, MeresOne is a storied graf artist whose work has been featured in countless publications and he is now responsible for the spectacular memorial to Sean P.
Price joins artists like Big L, the Notorious B.I.G., and Ol’ Dirty Bastard whose likenesses adorn buildings across New York City. Mourners have flocked to the site of the mural with candles and other items to acknowledge the legacy of the veteran Brownsville MC who was also a husband and father. Sean Price tragically passed away on August 8, reportedly in his sleep. He was 43 years old. He will be missed greatly and in one of life’s more poetic moments, his forthcoming mixtape, Songs in the Key of Price, is scheduled for release later this month.
Fans of Sean Price are urged to contribute donations to a Crowdrise campaign which is collecting funds for Price’s funeral and his family in an effort to ensure their well-being during their darkest hour.
