Twista’s catalog is deep. Although the Chicago, Illinois Hip-Hop pioneer is frequently thought of for his “Slow Jamz” and dazzling lyrical displays, the Speedknot Mobsta’-turned-GMG leader has also never shied from strong substance in his sprawling archives of music. Fresh off his tandem Withdrawal EP with Do Or Die, Twista kicks something a lil’ different.

“Conscious Freestyle” is a straightforward clinic of Carl Mitchell’s abilities. He attacks negativity with a righteous stance:

The time is now, the past is a memory, the future is a dream / So live for today and don’t let evil pollute your team / ‘Cause even though the bullshit we be rappin’ about is honest / I’d rather plant positivity down in your subconscious / To yourself, make a promise / Never be the last nigga / Kill them dream-stoppers, them Freddy Krueger ass-niggas.
