Freddie Gibbs Throws Fast Flow On A Charged Apollo Brown Beat (Audio)

Moving closer to September 25’s Grandeur, Apollo Brown and Mello Music Group share another glimpse from the LP. “Who’s That” incorporates Detroit, Michigan, Gary, Indiana, and Brownsville Brooklyn, New York—thanks to Apollo, Freddie Gibbs, and Maffew Ragazino, Sr.

Brown chops a moving loop that has a dusty, Caribbean feel to it. With short keys and grabby vocals, the beat is the perfect setting for Gangsta Gibbs to wax some tales from the underbelly. Here, the MC tries a double-time flow, following a crisp Maffew verse. This is a nice look for Sr., who has popped up on a few pungent indie releases (see: Action Bronson’s Dr. Lecter and Roc Marciano’s Marci Beaucoup).

Could Grandeur be the ideal solo vehicle to showcase Apollo’s range?
