Nas & Dave East Celebrate Their Inevitable Rise to the Top on ‘Forbes List’ (Audio)

It takes a billionaire’s mentality to achieve the unachievable, and for countless aspiring artists who hope to one day rise above the mediocre, there is perhaps no better gauge of “making it” than being listed alongside tycoons and moguls on Forbes magazine’s list of the wealthiest in the world. Earlier this year, Dr. Dre made waves outside of music when it was announced that he was crowned the first ‘Rap Billionaire’ thanks to a hugely lucrative deal with Apple but the true distinction of being Hip-Hop’s wealthiest star, according to the magazine, belongs to Diddy. Nevertheless, the idea of a Hip-Hop mogul rising to the top of the financial cream of the crop is no longer a far-fetched reality, as Nas and Dave East prove on the latter’s latest single.

Fittingly titled “Forbes List,” the song is the latest single from East’s forthcoming Hate Me Now, scheduled to drop on Mass Appeal Records on October 2. The Nas protege – whose new LP’s title is a clear nod to his idol – has been building and living up to hype since releasing his Black Rose mixtape last summer and now the Harlem MC is gearing up for his most ambitious release yet. Featuring Jadakiss, Pusha T, Styles P, and others, Hate Me Now is available for pre-order on iTunes. Check out two generations of New York’s gifted lyricists trade verses about their manifestations of the good life.
