DJ Spinna’s Pharcyde Mix Features A Song They Did With Bobby Brown & Ralph Tresvant (Audio)

Hi. We recently created AFH TV, Ambrosia For Heads’ streaming video service, because we believe real Hip-Hop deserves its own dedicated TV home. But, there are doubters, so, we need your help. If you have enjoyed anything on AFH over the last 7 years, we are asking you to subscribe to AFH TV. It is only $1.99/month or $12/year, and already features some amazing content, but the best is yet to come. Thank you for all of your support.

DJ Spinna is not your average mixmaster. The Jigmastas alum has been able to go incredibly deep in honoring musicians he admires. He and Bobbito did this exceptionally in their Wonder Wrote It series (and corresponding parties), and now he’s turning the (turn)tables onto The Pharcyde. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Delicious Vinyl Records artists’ Labcabinfornia sophomore, the newly-earthed tape features lots of alternates and rarities.

For instance, the Beyond Real alum spotlights a track that Fatlip, Bootie Brown, Imani, and Slimkid3 made with Bobby Brown and Ralph Tresvant. In this mix, Bootie Brown comes back in to remix “Runnin’,” while Moka Only, Ta’Raach, and others hop on contemporary adaptations of ‘Cydeways gems from ’95.

Had “Nasty Habits” (the aforementioned Ralph and Bobby collabo) been released, would the Pharcyde sophomore have reached a demographic that would have better appreciated the work from the group, and a young J Dilla?
